PTI demand for creation of southern Punjab province

LAHORE: PTI said it supported the demand for creation of southern Punjab province.

Speaking at a presser here yesterday (15th of April) PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the proposed creation of southern (Junoobi) Punjab province was needed not for linguistic reasons but on administrative grounds to mitigate the miseries and send of deprivation being faced by some 35m people living in Bahawalpur, Multan and DG Khan divisions.  

It is pertinent to mention here that before addressing the Press Conference Shah Mehmood Qureshi had a meeting with the recently formed leadership of the Junoobi Punjab Sooba Mahaz (JPSM). 

JPSM president Khusro Bakhtiar also addressed the press conference.

84 cases registered against PML-N leaders, workers: LHC told

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) was informed on Friday that 84 cases were registered against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and workers across Punjab over clashes with law enforcers on arrival of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here from London.
The details of the said cases were submitted by AIG legal Muhammad Ilyas before the LHC acting Chief Justice Muhammad Anwaarul Haq who was hearing a petition filed by PML-N Lahore President Pervez Malik against non-provision of the copies of first information reports (FIRs) registered against the party leaders and workers.
The law officer stated that the cases were registered against the party leaders and workers after they tried to take the law into their hands. The court was requested to dismiss the petition. However, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that baseless cases were registered against the party workers and it was aimed to harass the party supporters.
At this, the court adjourning further hearing till August 1, and ordered for the provision of copies of the FIRs to the persons concerned.

Abid Boxer gets interim bail in 10 cases

LAHORE: Former police inspector Abid Hussain alias Abid Boxer got interim bail in 10 different cases including murder.
The relief was granted by five different courts, including Additional District and Sessions Judge (AD&SJ) Samina Ejaz Cheema, AD&SJ Shahid Munir, AD&SJ Sajjawal Khan, AD&SJ Arshad Iqbal and AD&SJ Rao Farhan, where the said cases were pending. The courts ordered Abid Boxer to deposit surety bonds of Rs 100,000 in each case besides restraining police from his arrest till August 4.
The courts also issued notices to the prosecution and sought record from police in the cases. Earlier, Abid appeared before the courts along with his counsel who submitted that baseless cases were registered against his client in different police stations. He contended that all the cases were registered with malafide intentions and aimed to victimize his client. The counsel assured that his client would join the investigations while pleading for grant of interim bail. It is pertinent to mention here that the former inspector had been on the run for the last several years.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urges people to vote for PPP

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday urged the people to vote for the PPP to make a progressive and prosperous Pakistan.
Addressing public gatherings at Thoker Niaz Baig and NA-132 Kahna here, Bilawal said that he started his politics with the sole aim to accomplish the mission of his grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and mother  Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. He said:”I have given a revolutionary manifesto  as my grandfather and mother had given for the welfare of  the masses besides strengthening democracy and institutions
in the country.”
Bilawal said the PPP was a party of an ideology which would continue its mission to serve the masses selflessly. Criticising the politics of indecent language, he said that the PPP always promoted democratic norms through positive politics.
“My goal is serving the masses and resolving problems to raise their living standard,” he said and added: “My struggle is only for rights of the people not for power”. Bilawal said the PPP was not fighting against any party but
it was striving hard for eliminating public hardships. “I want to provide quality education and health facilities to people besides eradicating poverty and unemployment,” he said.  He said that Zulfikar Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed struggled to provide employment to the youth and we had launched the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to continue their mission. This programme was also helpful for eliminating poverty besides improving the living standard of the poor. “After coming to power, we will provide interest-free loans especially to the poor rural women so that they could start their own business and play a role in national development
,” he added.
He said that his party would especially facilitate farmers after winning the election and subsidized fertilizers would be provided through Benazir Kisan card to them. Earlier, he was warmly welcomed by party workers at Thokar Niaz Baig and Kahna.
