Pope to visit Myanmar and Bangladesh to solace Rohingiyan Community

VATICAN: Pope Francis is scheduled to visit Myanmar and Bangladesh from 27 to 30 November to ‘talk peace’ endeavoring to assuage the miseries of  Rohingya Muslims community.

This was disclosed here today by a Catholic Church representative during a Presser. However, it has not  been made clear what would be the content of his speech. 

Neighboring Bangladesh has seen an influx of refugees from Burma as some 52,00,000 minority Rohingiyans, facing atrocities from Burmese army and the majority Buddhists,  fled their country.  

Newspakistan.tv viewers may recall that Pope Francis had previously shown his sentiments for the persecuted Rohingya community by calling them “brothers and sisters”.

Francis is expected to visit Burmese capital Naypyidaw and Yangon before going to Bangladesh.

Jakarta wants to know why its military chief was stopped from travelling to USA

JAKARTA: Indonesia said it was still expecting a detailed explanation why its military chief was stopped from traveling to the US today despite having an invitation and a valid visa.

According to details commander of Indonesian armed forces General Gatot Nurmantyo was barred from boarding an Emirates flight to the US on Saturday.

There he had been invited to attend a conference by the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph F Dunford Jr.

“We conveyed that we still await clarification, an explanation why this happened,” Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi told Media after meeting the deputy US ambassador in Jakarta.

Nevertheless, Indonesia has accepted an official apology from USA.

Shootout at Bahariya Oasis killed 16 Egyptian policemen

CAIRO: Sixteen Egyptian policemen and fifteen militants were killed in a shootout at the road between Bahariya Oasis and Cairo in the country’s the Western Desert.

No group has claimed liability for the killings. But according to the local media reports, the militants are supporters of the Hasm Movement, which Egyptian security forces claim is related to the Muslim Brotherhood, banned group that once led the country.

Egypt has been suffering from militants uprising led by an affiliate of the Islamic State that is centered mainly in the northern region of the Sinai Peninsula.

However, country’s efforts have been questioned by a recent rise in the number of attacks on the country.

Israel-Syria trade fire at Golan Heights

JERUSALEM: Israeli army struck at Syrian government weaponry retaliating to opening of fire at Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Authorities identified four hits from five rounds launched at the northern Golan from Syria, without reporting any fatalities or damage.

Israeli army stated that it would react forcefully against the Syrian army, according to the situation of who was responsible for the fire and whether it was pre-planned or unintentional.

It is pertinent to mention here that Israel invaded Syria and seized 460 square miles of the Golan Heights in a Six-Day War of 1967.
