No biopic on BB sans heirs consent: Bakhtawar

KARACHI: Sources privy to NPTV had earlier reported that biopic on Benazir Bhutto (late) is on the cards and Pakistani starlet Mehwish Hayat is expected to play Bhutto.

The starlet, while asserting her appearance as the late prime minister on Instagram, also deliberated apropos her feelings being honored to be given the opportunity to learn about the late Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader.

As soon as the news spreads like a wildfire, daughter of Benazir Bhutto namely Bakhtawar took to Twitter on Friday, lamenting that no consent has been taken from heirs of the late Pakistan premier apropos making a biopic on her life.

Moreover, Bakhtawar, while terming this measure illegitimate, also geared-up to take action against it.

The tweet reads, “Certainly no consent from her living heirs/children was sought. Absolutely unacceptable and we will be taking action against it.”

Responding to her tweet, Hayat replied: “There is a project at the very early stages of development about your amazing mother. This cannot and will not be done without the consent or blessing of the family. I am sure that the team involved will be in touch before they progress further.”

“Irrespective of any film, I would love to meet someday and learn more about her,” added she.

It is pertinent to mention here that a little birdie had previously reported that officials endeavored to approach B-town actress Vidya Balan for playing Bhutto. Nevertheless, they could not make it due to the ongoing tensions amid borders.

A relevant piece published earlier: The ongoing trend of making biopics is sweeping like wildfire in B-town. However, now it seems that Lollywood is going to adopt the hot trend too. Sources privy to Newspakistan.tv have reported that Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat is all set to depict the role of Islamic World’s first PM Benazir Bhutto who was assassinated on the 27th day of December 2007 in a biopic. According to details, the actress took to Instagram and wrote: “Benazir is a true hero of mine, a real powerful woman and an inspiration for many millions around the world. Would be a privilege and honor to play her on screen and bring her wonderful journey, her inspirational story to the world!” Previously, it was reported that officials tried to approach Bollywood actress Vidya Balan for the same role. However, no official statement has been made so far. On the work front, the actress was last seen in Punjab Nahi Jaungi that managed to gross around Rs 50 crores. Well, it is yet to be ascertained whether the actress would manage to essay the fierce leader with the same grace she had?
