ICC suspends Mohammad Hafeez for illegal bowling action!

LONDON: An independent assessment at Loughborough University has found the bowling action of Pakistan’s all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez to be illegal.

This was announced here by The International Cricket Council (ICC) today.

According to details the off-spinner has been banned for 12 months from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect.

Cricket aficionados may recall that this is Hafeez’s third suspension from bowling in international cricket.

The assessment exposed that the majority of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance allowed under the regulations.

He was reported in Abu Dhabi during the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka, which was played on 18th of October.

It is pertinent to mention here that according to Article 11.1 of the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations, Hafeez’s international ban will also be recognized and imposed by all National Cricket Federations for domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction.

Hafeez can apply for a re-examination after modifying his bowling action in accord with clause 4.5 of the Regulations.
