FC thwarts attempt to bomb journalists in Peshawar

KHYBER AGENCY: FC here has defused a bomb attached to a vehicle carrying journalists. 

Magnetic explosive devise that was attached to the vehicle.

Sources privy to Newspakistan.tv have informed that four  journalists belonging to local Media outlets were going to cover Torkham-Karachi rally featuring vintage cars. 

It has further been informed that one of the four journalists is working for foreign media. All of them are being quizzed by LEAs.

PTI’s Gandapur killed in suicide attack!

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: PTI candidate Ikramullah Gandapur – who was contesting elections on provincial assembly seat from the constituency of PK-99 – died here at Combined Military Hospital where he was taken in critical condition after he was gravely injured in a suicide blast at Kulachi area today. 

According to details, Gandapur was on his way back home after addressing a corner meeting when the attacker detonated near his vehicle killing the driver, seriously injuring Gandapur, two policemen escorting him and a passerby. Ikramullah Khan Gandapur was shifted to Combined Military Hospital in critical condition and other injured were taken to District Headquarter Hospital here.

 Body parts of the suicide bomber’s body were collected from the site for forensic tests. PTI chief Imran Khan took to the twitter to condemn the attack: “Strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack against Ikram(ullah) Khan Gandapur and his convoy today. May Allah grant Ikram and the other injured a speedy recovery”.When contacted, the area police claimed that though LEAs had already informed Gandapur apropos death threats to him, he opted to move sans informing the authorities that have assigned thirteen gunmen for his security. Gandapur held the portfolio of agriculture and livestock minister in PTI’s last government.

Israrullah GandapurReaders may recall that Ikramullah’s brother Israrullah Gandapur (PTI Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Human Rights) too was bombed to death along with seven others while he was greeting people during Eid-ul-Azha in October 2013.

Election 2018: ECP orders to arrest AROs involved in opening postal ballots

Senate body expresses satisfaction

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Saturday ordered to arrest Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) over a charge of an attempt to open postal ballots.
According to a press release, two AROs from Sanghar and two others from Sehwan, Sindh, had attempted to open postal ballots.
Secretary Election Commission, on the directions of the election commission, had contacted chief secretary Sindh to take action against the accused AROs.
