COAS asks Americans to recognize Pakistan’s contributions!

RAWALPINDI: ISPR took to the twitter to inform that Pak COAS had received a call  from Commander US Central Command and another from a US Senator over the week to discuss Pak-US security cooperation following new year tweet by President Trump. 

Telling the callers that entire Pakistani nation felt betrayed on trivializing their decade old cooperation, COAS reiterated that Pakistan would not ask for restoration of financial assistance but honorable recognition of the country’s contributions.

Information Minister says accountability will continue!

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has categorically declared that an across the board accountability process will continue without any discrimination.

Talking to newsmen outside the Parliament House on Wednesday, he said government does not believe in any political victimization but will bring to justice all those who plundered the national exchequer. He said any amount of hue and cry would not hinder the ongoing accountability process in the country.

He said opposition parties should come out with concrete proposals to amend the accountability laws to ensure transparency in the process.

Fawad Chaudhry said the government did not oppose the participation of opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif in the National Assembly Session and he has been brought to Islamabad from Lahore on production orders by the Speaker National Assembly.

PM Imran pledges Govt. support to Media

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government will extend its full support to the media for the promotion of democracy, good governance, ensuring transparency and merit.         

Talking to a delegation of All Pakistan Newspapers Society in Islamabad, he said media has played an important role in conveying the ideology of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to the masses and making it a success.

The Prime Minister said PTI has not grown in any incubation center and it has attained this position after a struggle of twenty-two years. He said media is the opinion maker of society and it would have to play its role to protect the country. He said Pakistan was pushed into debt-trap during the last ten years and the country’s debts increased from six trillion rupees to 30 trillion rupees.

The Prime Minister said the government is conducting an audit of 30 trillion rupees loans so that it could be traced out where the money was spent and which projects were materialized from those loans.

He said the FIA has unearthed several fake accounts and the government is bound to rectify that situation. Imran Khan said current foreign remittances of the country are around 40 billion dollars, out of which only 20 billion dollars are being received through banking channels, which would be enhanced to 30 billion dollars. He said the present government is taking concrete steps to block money laundering.

The Prime Minister said a strategy is being formulated for the payment of arrears of media, pending since the previous governments, so that the problems of the newspaper industry could be resolved.

Zainab's killer hanged to death

LAHORE: Imran Ali, the convicted of molesting and murdering seven-year-old Zainab Amin of Kasur City, was hanged to death at Central Jail Kot Lakhpat in Lahore early this morning.

An Anti-Terrorism Court Judge, Sajjad Ahmad on Friday had issued black warrants for Imran Ali. An Anti-Terrorism Court on February 2, had awarded death sentence to Imran Ali, on the charges of kidnapping, rape and brutal murder of Zainab Amin of Kasur after completing the trial in a record seven days time.

He was executed in the presence of Magistrate Adil Sarwar and the Zainab’s father, Muhammad Amin Ansari. Talking to media on the occasion, the father of Zainab, Muhammad Amin said that such kind of criminals should be hanged publicly for giving a lesson to all such evil minds.

Later, the dead body of Imran Ali was handed over to his heirs after completing formal legal proceeding.
