Can roaches cause asthma?

KARACHI: Cockroaches can be present in homes particularly kitchens. And once they find their ways in your homes, it would be difficult to wipe them off as they tend to spread swiftly on a daily basis.

Innumerable people here are oblivious when it comes to what damage and harm these pests could cause to their health.

As a matter of fact, roaches could potentially cause allergies and if it is not cured on time, it could make the situation severe, resulting into mounting asthma.

Some of the most widespread warning signs of having allergies incorporate coughing, nasal congestion, skin rashes, wheezing, and ear and sinus infection.

Experts suggest that if people find any of the mentioned afore symptoms, they should consult with the doctor at once before the condition becomes worse.

Here are some of the tips that would help you out to deal with these pests such as:

  • First thing first, keep your house particularly kitchens and washrooms clean
  • Always wash food containers, pots, spoons and stuff before using
  • Apply cockroach slayer gels in the area where they tend to hide
  • Piles of newspapers, laundry, magazines or dirty dishes are their hideouts. So make sure that you keep them neat

As per the estimates, provided by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) in 2017, some seven million people are living with asthma here in Pakistan. Whereas, it affects some 253 million people across the globe.
