Attacked for carrying corruption data: Kharal!

LAHORE: Asad Kharal, who was brutally attacked on Sunday 6th of June outside the airport, has revealed that he was targeted for carrying sensitive information about gigantic corruption and Model Town incident that he wanted to provide to NAB and SCP. 

As per the instructions of Punjab Government, a JIT has been formed comprised of officials from ISI, MI, and CTD, in order to investigate the matter.

A relevant piece published earlier: President Rana M. Azeem and Secretary General GM Jamali on behalf of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have strongly condemned the brutal attack on senior journalist Asad  Kharal, presently working as Bol TV anchor, here and demanded authorities to arrest the culprits immediately. According to reports Asad Kharal’s vehicle was intercepted when he came out of Lahore airport by identified masked miscreants who attacked him and left him severely injured. Kharal was later taken to Services Hospital for treatment.  Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar while taking suo motu notice of the incident, ordered the ICP to submit a report regarding the attack within 24 hours. President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Rana M. Azeem and Secretary General PFUJ GM Jamali in their joint statement reminded that such incidences were commonplace in Pakistan where journalists faced tremendous difficulties in discharging their duties.
