WASHINGTON: Turning around seventy-year-old foreign policy of his country, President Donald Trump has finally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on 6th day of December.

While speaking from White House’s Diplomatic Reception Room he stated that recognizing Jerusalem was a long step to advance the peace process.

“This is nothing more or less than recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done”, Trump held.

While US Embassy is all set to move from Tel Aviv to Holy City, UN, Arabs and Muslims all over the world are condemning the move saying White House has thus abandoned its role as  a peace mediator.

UN has summoned a Security Council meeting tomorrow (Friday 8th of December). Secretary General of UN Antonio Guterres, while advocating to settle the matter through direct talk, held: “I have consistently spoken out against any unilateral measures that would jeopardize the prospect of peace for Israelis and Palestinians.

Saudi Arabia, holding that Trump’s recognition was a big step backwards in efforts to advance the peace process, warned of dangerous consequences of moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

British PM Theresa May noted held that recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital before a final-status was unlikely to assist peace process.

French President Emmanuel Macron said he did not support the unilateral move of US President: “The status of Jerusalem is a question of international security that concerns the entire international community.

“The status of Jerusalem must be determined by Israelis and Palestinians in the framework of negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations.
