CALIFORNIA: A team of researchers at the University of California has recently invented a battery that can be recharged a hundred-folds without rusting ever.
“This doesn’t mean that we’ll soon see such batteries on store shelves. The new research was intended to test nanowires and not a practical battery” said research co-author Dr Reginald Penner.
This research drags us closer to the possibility of originating such long-lasting batteries for the commercial use in smartphones, computers, cars and spacecraft in future.
“This research proves that a nanowire-based battery electrode can have a long lifetime and that we can make these kinds of batteries a reality” said research lead author Mya Le Thai.
