‘You will always be my captain,” Kohli to MS Dhoni



NEW DEHLI (JAN 06, 2017): Indian skipper Virat Kohli has praised former One0day International (ODI) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni saying that the former would always be his captain.

“Thanks for always being the leader a youngster wants to have around him. You’ll always be my captain @msdhoni Bhai”, said Kohli on his official Twitter account.

The 28-year-old’s remarks came two days after Dhoni announced that he was stepping down as the ODI and T20I captain.

Kohli, who is likely to become Dhoni’s predecessor, made his Test and ODI debuts under the 35-year-old’s captaincy and the swashbuckling right-hander was quick to thank India’s most successful captain for donning the role of a perfect senior in the dressing room.



Dhoni, who has made himself available for selection for the upcoming limited overs series against England, has played 283 ODIs, scoring 9110 runs, averaging 50.89 with an 88-plus strike rate. He has hit nine centuries in this format to go with 61 fifties.

He has also played 73 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 112 runs, averaging nearly 36 with a 122 strike rate.

KARACHI: Sir Viv Richards, legendary West Indian cricket star, who is presently coaching the Quetta Gladiators, was welcomed by Administrator DHA Brigadier Shahid Hasan Ali here at Moin Khan Academy on the occasion of Pakistan Resolution Day. 

As karachiites were given access to the legend, people – particularly children – grasped at the occasion to get themselves photographed with the legend and get his autographs. 

This is an encouraging sign for Port City where peace is returning after a prolonged episode of lawlessness. With the holding of PSL final here Karachi has manifested its fortitude to regain its title City of Lights.

Entertainment brand ambassador boxer Amir Khan to bring his reality show!




LONDON: British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan – Brand Ambassador of (official partner of BBCNEWS) – along with his wife Faryal Makhdoom is all set to bring their own reality show.

In this context, a statement reads: “the boxer, 31, famed for his hilarious one-liners on the recent series of I’m A Celebrity, will make more great telly if they did a fly-on-the-wall series with them”.

At the moment, the duo is reportedly trying to get back in good terms and this could prove to be a good opportunity.

“He’s a character and they think viewers would be very interested in seeing how he is with Faryal and their daughter behind closed doors,” added the source.

Further details apropos the show are yet to be revealed but both of them are interested in doing a reality show, however, no official statement has been made so far.

Last year, Amir publicly announced to part his ways with Faryal due to the fight and fluctuation in their relationship.

Nevertheless, the things settled down when Faryal reportedly claimed of being pregnant with the boxer’s second child. The couple has a four year old daughter Lamaisah Khan.

PSL IIIrd Edition IInd Eliminator: Zalmi slays Kings to qualify for the final!



LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi that  mustered-up fast-paced  170 for 7 limited Karachi Kings to 157 for 2 to win the match by 13 runs here today at Qaddafi Stadium. Zalmi will now face the Islamabad United on Sunday 25th of March at National Stadium of the Port City. 

Though the ground staff managed to make the field playable, hour-long rain taken its toll as the match was reducted to 16 over per team.

Zalmi, batting first, sent out Kamran Akmal and Andre Fletcher to open their innings. Facing the bowlers Mohammad Amir and Usman Shinwari, who used the new ball,  Kamran Akmal’s bat yielded  77 runs off 27 balls (with the help of 8 sixes and 4 boundaries). 

Sources privy to have informed that the demand for PSL final’s tickets dropped as soon as karachiites came to know that they will not be watching their team at the National Stadium of Karachi. Those who had bought large number of tickets in order to sell them at a higher price are finding it difficult even to get their invested money back.
