Suicide blast kills 13 in Iraq’s Baghdad suburbs

BAGHDAD: At least 13 people have been reportedly killed when a suicide bomber driving a car hit a group of Shi’ite Muslim pilgrims in a southeastern suburb of Baghdad on Saturday.

According to police, some 13 people were killed and more than 50 others wounded in the blast at a market in the Nahrawan district of Baghdad.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast. However, the Islamic State is expected to be involved in the attack as it regularly attacks civilians in and around the Iraqi capital.

Police sources said the death toll could rise given the high number of injuries.
