Social Media turns you into a Narcissist!

AIMAN INAM

TOKYO: Social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) have successfully influenced our lives!!!

We love to upload and share snaps, goings-ons and usual happenings there.

However, savants, in their latest breakthrough, have claimed that the use of such sites is linked with narcissistic propensities.

What is narcissism?

Severe self-interest, with an extravagant outlook of one’s own dexterities and a yearning for approval. If it exceeds its limits, people turn into more emotional and sensitive when folks do not treat them like sovereigns.

Investigators from the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories Bamberg and the University of Würzburg carried out this research by means of analyzing around 57 studies comprising on over 25,000 contributors.

Their findings suggested that those, who deem of themselves as being very brilliant, extraordinary and victorious, are more prone to show themselves off to other individuals so as to seek appreciation from them. This approach clearly indicates that they are narcissists.

These networks provide them with a podium where it is easy to get to the large spectators.

This lets them to vigilantly post information for self-promotion. Besides, they reckon that by doing this, they can meticulously build their image.

It is to be noted that a connection has been located amid the number of FB pals a person has, how many pictures they file and the occurrence of characteristics linked with narcissism.

Usually, narcissists fritter more time in using the networks as compare to normal users. Also, they demonstrate explicit behavioral patterns.

Connoisseurs further discovered the pressure of the cultural milieu on the usage. For instant, in states (such as India or Malaysia) where separate societal hierarchies and uneven authority are usually more established, there is a graver connection between narcissism and the behavior in social media when compare to countries like Austria or the USA.

The research was detailed in the Journal of Personality.
