PSL: Bangladeshi Star Shakib desires to play encore in Pakistan!

WANIA ATHER

DUBAI: Bangladeshi Cricket Star Shakib Al Hasan, while appreciating the quality of ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), has expressed his desire to play cricket once again in Pakistan.

World’s best all-rounder is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi side. However, Shakib and other Bangladeshi players will be leaving PSL tomorrow due to prior international commitments.

The 29-year-old, alongwith his team, last played in Pakistan in 2008 (in both T20 and ODI). There he had showcased impressive performance despite the fact that his team (Bangladesh) was white-washed.

“It was an amazing experience for me. The crowd, the fans and the atmosphere were all fabulous. If the event was held in Pakistan then it would be more passion and excitement”, he recalled.

Shakib admitted that some of the spark of PSL is absent due to arrangements away from home.

He ranks the level of cricket here (in PSL) as ‘top line’: “It is a great success for Pakistan cricket; the standard of this league is almost to the level of other T20 leagues”.

Sharing his experience of being in dressing room with Pakistani players he said: “Our interactions with Pakistani players are terrific. It’s like I am playing with my home team rather than in a foreign league”.
