LINCOLN: Women cricket team of New Zealand defeated Pakistani women in the second of the five-match ODI series on Friday to take their lead to 2-0.
All-rounder Amy Satterthwaite scored an unbeaten century under the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-shortened match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.
The hosts scored 309/4 in their allotted 50 overs with Satterthwaite being the top scorer with 137 runs from 117 with 16 boundaries to her name.
Opting to bat first, New Zealand openers Suzie Bates and Rachel Priest fell for 32 and 27 respectively, before Amy came to the rescue. Amy and Katey Martin put together a 150-run partnership.
Meanwhile, Maham Tariq, Sana Mir, and Sadia Yousuf were able to claim one wicket each for the visitors.
Pakistan, chasing a revised target of 203 runs from 34.2 overs, could only score 142/4 in their given overs. Nain Abidi was the top scorer for the Pakistani side as she made 45 runs from 56 deliveries with four boundaries to her name. Nahida Khan and Bismah Maroof scored 33 and 30 runs with the blade.
For New Zealand, Suzie was able to claim two wickets, whereas Thamsyn Newton and Hannah Rowe got one scalp each.
Both the sides had to come off the field as rain started to fall during the 35th over and the hosts were awarded a 60-run victory.
New Zealand leads the five-match ODI series 2-0. They also won the first ODI by eight wickets.
