SANA MAHMOOD

ISLAMABAD: PTI has decided to field the 2013 runner-up Yasmeen Rashid against PML (N)’s Shahbaz Sharif for NA-120 left vacant after the SC disqualified Nawaz Sharif.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the 2013 elections Yasmeen Rashid contested the polls from the same constituency and got over 50,000 votes while Nawaz Sharif entered the Parliament with over 90,000 votes.

Gauging by the history of this country, people’s propensity towards a political party or a candidate is not governed by the integrity of that party or individual. It is dictated by many other things for instance ethnic, sectarian, religious, bradery liaisons etc etc.

Moreover, since for Lahoriites removal of Nawaz Sharif by SC is akin to a political martyrdom, it is expected that the voters will turn out in hordes for PML (N) as an act of vengeance.
