Ex-Envoy to Germany & former Senator of Indiana Dan Coats will direct 16 intelligence & security agencies!





WASHINGTON: Donald Trump has selected Ex-Envoy to Germany (2001-5) & former Republican Senator of Indiana (1989-99) Dan Coats 73, as the new Director of National Intelligence (16 intelligence and security agencies).

Coats accepting the job said that he would utilize all the means at his disposal to keep America safe. It is pertinent to mention here that DNI was formed after the 9/11 in order to oversee the synchronization between entities like Dept of Homeland Security, CIA, FBI etc.

Contrary to White House denial many believe that Trump will be reducing the number of such agencies.

KARACHI: Crystal Ball Room of Mövenpick here was profusely adorned with red and white on 17th August, on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

Consul General Dempo Awang Yuddie received scores of guests including members of the diplomatic corps, literati, journalists, politicians, entrepreneurs and other  crème de la crème of the Metropolis. 

The soirée commenced with recitation from Holy Quran. That was followed by  National Anthems of the two countries. 

Host Dempo Awang Yuddie in his address drew a parallel between Pakistan and Indonesia in their struggle against colonialists.

Consul General pointed out that Indonesia was one of the first countries to recognize Pakistan that is now an important trading partner.

Chief Guest of the occasion Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair while highlighting the brotherly relations between the two countries noted that Indonesia has always supported Pakistan at international forums.

Speaking to the Consul General stated: “We have good relations with Pakistan since it came into being. Pakistan opened its Embassy in Jakarta in 1950. That’s why our historical background is good for our relationship specially in  trade, economics and socio-cultural (domains)”.

PSX: Bourse closes in the red going 0.13% down!




KARACHI: Due to political improbability (particularly PM and sons’ refusal to go to NAB), benchmark KSE-100 Index lost 58 points on the last trading session of the week.

Rs. 9b worth of 88m shares of KSE-100 entities were traded today. Of all the 362 companies  value of the shares of 21 remained unchanged, 196 plummeted while the remaining appreciated.

With trading of 24 million shares Engineering led the trade today. Banking and Textile followed.

Top ten leaders on the last trading session were: Azgard Nine, 18.1m shares (+6.65pc); Aisha Steel Mills 14.2m shares (-0.33pc); TRG Pak Ltd., 13.1m shares (+3.10pc); Bank of Punjab, 7.8m shares (+0.29pc) and K-Electric Ltd.,  7.5m shares (+0.92pc).

IS claims Spain Attack: Five terror suspects ‘wearing (fake) suicide vests’ shot dead in Cambrils!




CAMBRILS: Mossos d’Esquadra – the Police force of the Catalan autonomous region – has informed that  it has  shot dead five terrorists (wearing suicide jackets) here today as the attackers rammed their white Audi A3  into pedestrians injuring half a dozen people.

According to details after running down three people and smashing into a stationed police vehicle the attackers emerged from the van with knives, machetes and axes.

Noticing the assailants one single officer shot four of them dead. The fifth ran towards a pedestrian and stabbed him in the face before another officer pumped bullets from his sub-machine gun.

One of the raiding member of police party and six civilians were also injured during the course of operation.

Police has asked the citizens to remain indoors as operation is still being carried out.

This was second such attack in Spain within 24 hours. It is pertinent to mention here that IS has claimed the responsibility for the Barcelona attack a day earlier.

Hence it has been insinuated that the second attack too has been masterminded by the same outfit. 

Later it transpired that the suicide belts they were wearing were fake as they wanted to be killed and not arrested.
