ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today issued an arrest warrant for Imran Khan in a contempt of court case.

The warrant was issued after the petitioner’s lawyer argued before the commission that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief had to appear before ECP but he kept ignoring the directions.

On the other hand, Imran’s counsel told the commission that the case pertaining to the contempt of court would be heard in the larger bench of the high court.

“He [Imran] will appear before the larger bench court today,” Babar Awan, who defends Imran Khan, said.

He further maintained that Khan was unable to appear before the ECP because he was out of the country.

ISLAMABAD: An adjournment motion was tabled here today by Mian Ateeq (former MQM leader) asking about Pakistan’s profit share in the Free Trade Agreement under CPEC.

He held that due to such agreements Pakistani exports were suffering.

The reaction came when on the occasion of groundbreaking of East BayExpressway yesterday (Thursday 23rd of November) the PM held: “All political parties are on the same page as far as CPEC is concerned – that the project will change the destiny of the nation”.

It is pertinent to mention here that many quarters, including law-makers from Baluchistan, are expressing their concerns on lack of transparency in the whole CPEC affair.
